19-year-old man killed in crash on Perimeter Highway in south Winnipeg
The eastbound lanes of the Perimeter were closed for part of the day as crews investigated the crash
A 19-year-old man has died in a crash between a semi and car on the Perimeter Highway in Winnipeg.
RCMP announced the fatality Friday afternoon, several hours after the eastbound lanes of the Perimeter were closed at Brady Road around 9 a.m.
Officers believe the 19-year-old driver, who was the only person in the car, was travelling east on the Perimeter when he was struck by a semi trailer, which was also heading east.
The impact pushed his car into another large truck, also in the eastbound lanes of the Perimeter.
The 19-year-old, who was from the rural municipality of Rockwood, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The eastbound lanes of the Perimeter Highway, which were closed as emergency crews investigated, was reopened by mid-afternoon on Friday.
