Man, 42, dies after car collides with back of semi-trailer truck near Perimeter Highway
Semi driver remained at the scene of the crash Thursday night
A 42-year-old man is dead after a passenger vehicle collided with the back of a semi-trailer truck near the town of Oak Bluff, southwest of Winnipeg.
Winnipeg police were called around 7:15 p.m. Thursday about the crash in the area of McGillivray Boulevard and the Perimeter Highway.
The crash forced the closure a stretch of the Perimeter Highway Thursday night. A white vehicle could be seen at the back of a semi-trailer.
The 42-year-old driver and lone occupant of the car was seriously injured and was pronounced dead shortly after paramedics found him.
The semi driver, a 27-year-old man, remained at the scene of the crash, where he spoke with officers, police said in a news release Friday.
The highway and intersection reopened around 2 a.m. No information has been provided on the cause of the crash.
The Winnipeg police traffic division has taken over the investigation and no charges have been laid at this point.
