Winkler and Morden to welcome CBC Manitoba's Communities in Focus

CBC Manitoba is heading to Winkler and Morden, Manitoba. From March 17-21, we will be meeting with the community to hear the stories that matter to the people who live there. 

CBC Manitoba journalist Rosanna Hempel, videographer Travis Golby and Community Connection Senior Producer Nadia Kidwai, as well as Information Radio host Marcy Markusa and producer Cory Funk will be spending time getting to know the community. 

Our job is to tell stories that reflect our province's many people and places. Communities in Focus is a community news bureau project that aims to hear Manitobans' stories and share them with the rest of the province. 

Share your stories

The goal of the Communities in Focus initiative is to meet people, hear their stories and then share those stories. We want to tell stories that reflect and represent our province and that's why we need your help! 

Nadia Kidwai will have office hours in the community. Share your story ideas and perspectives with us. No cameras or microphones. Just a chance for a face-to-face conversation so we can hear your point of view.

Winkler: Whitecap Coffee, 555 S. Railway Ave

Morden: Coffee Culture Cafe & Eatery, 301 Stephen St.

• Wed, March 19:  9am- 5pm 

• Thurs, March 20: 10am-6pm

CBC in your community

To introduce ourselves to the community, and to allow the community to introduce itself to us, we will be at the 545 Community Meal at Winkler's Central Station Community Centre, on March 17. We want to meet you and hear your stories. 

Information Radio live. Marcy Markusa and the Information Radio team will be broadcasting live from the area. Details to follow.

We'll also be sharing our expertise with students at Morden Collegiate Institute on March 20, with a workshop focused on journalism and storytelling.

CBC Manitoba's Communities in Focus series

This is not CBC Manitoba's first Communities in Focus tour. Over the last year, CBC Manitoba has set up community news bureaus in Lac du Bonnet, the Interlake, and Poplar River. From north to south, our province has so many intriguing stories to share.
