A 16-year old is facing multiple weapons charges after London police seized a loaded Glock handgun and a sawed-off shotgun from a home in the city's southeast.

Police discovered the guns, as well as dozens of rounds of ammunition and a rifle, Tuesday night after the teen was spotted at Laurier Secondary School earlier in the day, allegedly carrying what appeared to be a weapon.

The principal called police to alert them that a student had left on foot with an alleged firearm.

Officers watched security footage of the student and confirmed he'd left the school grounds. He was found a short distance from the school but didn't have a weapon on him, police said.

Officers searched a home near Southdale Road and Koru Court and charged a 16-year-old with the following:

  • Two counts of possessing a loaded/unloaded regulated firearm.
  • Possessing a prohibited or restricted weapon.
  • Three counts of possessing a firearm without a licence.
  • Carrying a concealed weapon.
  • Three counts of careless storage of firearm.
  • Three counts of breach of a recognizance.
  • Tampering with a serial number of a firearm.

The teen was kept in custody ahead of his first court appearance on Wednesday. He cannot be named because of provisions in the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
