PC candidate Joseph Racinsky to be new MPP in Wellington-Halton Hills

Ted Arnott has served as MPP for Wellington-Halton Hills since 1990, but opted not to run in this Ontario election. Progressive Conservative candidate Joseph Racinsky won Thursday's election.

Progressive Conservative candidate Joseph Racinsky will be the new MPP in Wellington-Halton Hills.

With all 56 polls reporting:

  • Racisnky had 24,429 votes.
  • Liberal Alex Hilson had 14,874 votes.
  • Green's Bronwynne Wilton had 8,462 votes.
  • NDP's Simone Kent had 4,154 votes.
  • Stephen Kitras of the New Blue Party had 1,452 votes.
  • Jason Medland of the Ontario Party had 399 votes.
  • Ron Patava of the Consensus Party had 199 votes.

Racinsky is currently on leave from his job as a Halton Hills councillor.

Racinsky replaces Ted Arnott, who opted not to seek re-election after 34 years in office.

Arnott, a Progressive Conservative, was first elected to the riding of Wellington on Sept. 6, 1990. He announced in October 2024 he had decided not to run in the next provincial election. Arnott served two terms as Speaker of the Ontario Legislature.

Arnott was 27 when he won the seat of Wellington in Sept. 1990. 

During his time as MPP, the riding's boundaries changed three times from Wellington to Waterloo-Wellington in 1999 and then in 2007 it became the current riding of Wellington-Halton Hills.
