Snowy roads lead to closed schools, cancelled buses and more than 90 collisions Wednesday morning
Environment Canada has issued a winter weather advisory for Waterloo region, Guelph and surrounding areas
People are reminded to be safe when outside Wednesday as a winter weather travel advisory has warned up to 10 cm of snow is possible and gusting winds will lead to blowing snow.
The Waterloo Regional Police Service said on the social media platform X, formerly Twitter, that officers received more than 90 collision reports between 6 a.m. and 11 a.m.
"Please remember to slow down, drive according to road conditions, and give yourself extra travel time," police said in the post.
Schools in northern Wellington County and Dufferin County were closed. Buses were cancelled for all students in Wellesley, Wilmot, Woolwich, north Wellington and Dufferin County.
The cancellations also affected school buses, taxis and special education routes in those areas.
In a social media post, the Waterloo Region District School Board said all secondary school exams scheduled for Wednesday have been postponed to Thursday.

Buses were still operating in Cambridge, Kitchener and Waterloo as well as in Guelph, Centre Wellington and Rockwood.
Weather advisory issued
Environment Canada issued a weather advisory on Wednesday morning for Waterloo region, Guelph and surrounding areas.
The advisory says about five to 10 cm of snow will be falling Wednesday morning through to the evening. It also says a "brief bursts of heavy flurries are expected" because of a cold front moving through the area.
The weather agency is warning that roads and walkways may be icy with reduced visibility at times.
