Kitchener Mayor Berry Vrbanovic makes top 10 Twitter list

Kitchener Mayor Berry Vrbanovic has long been a prolific tweeter, but now he's been named as the 10th most followed Canadian mayor on Twitter.

Kitchener Mayor Berry Vrbanovic is the 10th most followed Canadian mayor on Twitter, according to the social media company.

Twitter Canada recently crunched the numbers, looking at the Twitter accounts of mayors in Canada's 25 largest municipalities.

As of Wednesday afternoon, Vrbanovic had 12,007 followers. Naheed Nenshi, Calgary's mayor, took top spot with 353,628.

Twitter also noted Vrbanovic is third on the list for how many people he follows: 4,456. Montreal Mayor Denis Coderre follows the most people at 4,865.

Ottawa Mayor Jim Watson had the highest number of tweets, with more than 72,900. Vrbanovic has more than 25,400.

Waterloo Mayor Dave Jaworsky was also noted in the Twitter blog post for taking advantage of GIFs and other media.
