Want to start a podcast? Borrow the equipment in Idea Exchange's new maker kits
'Check out a new hobby in a bag,' the Idea Exchange website says
Want to make some candles? Learn how to do book binding? Perhaps you dream of starting a podcast?
The Idea Exchange in Cambridge is offering "maker kits" to members to borrow the equipment they need to do just that — free of charge.
"You can actually check out a new hobby in a bag," the library says on its website.
Each kit includes basic tools and a book to teach you about the craft.
People can sign the kits out for three weeks.
"These kids are a wonderful way for the community to try a new hobby, get creative or access new technologies," Jamie Kamula, manager of the Queen's Square branch of Idea Exchange, said in a release.
"With these new kits, members can try such activities as podcasting, playing the ukulele and hiking local trails."
The podcasting kit comes with two different microphones, headphones and a book.
More information can be found on the Idea Exchange's website under the "borrowing" tab. Look for the link to "unusual stuff to borrow."
