2 cyclists hit by car at Cambridge intersection taken to hospital with injuries

A 44-year-old woman and a male youth from Cambridge were taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries Thursday night after they were hit by a car while cycling Thursday evening.

Police say collision occurred at intersection of Christopher Drive and Myers Road

Police are investigating after a 44-year-old woman and a male youth from Cambridge were hit by a car while cycling Thursday night.

Officers were called to the intersection of Christopher Drive and Myers Road at 7 p.m. Thursday after receiving reports a Honda Civic had hit two people. 

"Through investigation, officers determined that the Civic was heading south on Christopher Drive and turned right onto Myers Road into the westbound lane. The Civic then struck the cyclists heading east in the westbound lane of Myers Road," police said in a release.

The two cyclists were taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The driver of the Honda Civic was not injured.

Police closed the intersection for two hours to investigate.

The investigation is ongoing and anyone with information is asked to contact the traffic service unit of Waterloo Regional Police Services.
