'Financial, historical problems' leads to proposed 50% property tax increase in 2025 for Wilmot residents

Region of Waterloo out $13.7M after error in calculating development charges for Cambridge Amazon warehouse
The Ontario Land Tribunal has ruled the Region of Waterloo cannot ask developers of a fulfillment centre for Amazon in Cambridge to pay more in development charges. The region argued the online retailer being the tenant of the building meant it shouldn't have qualified for a discounted rate.

Kitchener MPP wants police to return to Ontario classrooms as part of school resource officer program
A new private member's bill by Kitchener South-Hespeler MPP Jess Dixon that's set to be debated Tuesday would encourage public school boards in Ontario to work with local police services so school resource officers are available to students. It comes after a number of boards ended the program in 2020 and 2021.

A new report says the need for food banks in Ontario is growing, but food banks are starting to feel the pressure. Local food banks say they need more funding to address growing requests for food assistance, especially as in some cases, donors are becoming clients.
