Tiger-Cats 'thrilled' to be in the running as Grey Cup host to be announced Thursday

With the CFL set to announce the host of the 2020 Grey Cup next week, Hamilton Tiger-Cat fans are waiting in "excitement and anticipation."

The team, which submitted a bid to bring the 108th edition of the big game to Hamilton, will find out if it's the winner when the league makes it selection on Feb. 21 at 6:30 p.m.

Team owner Bob Young said the organization is eagerly waiting for the news.

"Tiger-Cat fans everywhere, and the Tiger-Cat organization, have worked hard to convey our enthusiasm for bringing the Grey Cup to Hamilton again," he said in a statement. "We are thrilled to be in consideration by the Canadian Football League ... and we look forward with excitement and anticipation to the league's announcement."

The team is also planning an announcement viewing party at Tim Hortons Field for season ticket holders and nearby residents.

The Tiger-Cats will have to beat out rival bids the Montreal Alouettes and Saskatchewan Roughriders for the honour.

CFL Commissioner Randy Ambrosie said all three offers to host were "first class" and would each take the game and festival surrounding it to "new heights."
