Police are investigating close to a dozen suspicious fires in abandoned homes, greenhouses, barns and other buildings across Norfolk County.

Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have reported at least 11 fires since Nov. 12 — with three occurring overnight Tuesday.

A gas station and abandoned house and barn were set on fire, with the first reported at around 11 p.m., said Const. Randi Crawford, with Norfolk County OPP, in a video posted to X.

"We understand how frustrating this is and scary this is for the community and we are doing everything we can to try to find these individuals and hold them accountable," she said.

No injuries have been reported, police said in a news release.

They're asking for the public's help finding suspects.

There was a report of a "very thin" man wearing a hoodie and face covering running down Norfolk County Road 24 close to where one of the fires took place, Crawford said.

Other fires police say they're investigating include:

  • Nov. 12, 10:38 p.m., Windham East Quarter Line Road, Simcoe.
  • Nov. 13, 1:03 a.m., Windham Road 13, Simcoe.
  • Nov. 26, 10:19 p.m., Fourteenth Street West, Simcoe.
  • Nov. 27, 12:03 a.m., 10th Concession Road, Langton.
  • Dec. 11, 4:09 a.m., Highway 24 near Concession 11 Townsend, Norfolk.
  • Dec. 19, 11:40 p.m., Concession 10 Townsend, Waterford.
  • Dec. 27, 12:33 a.m., St. John's Road West, Simcoe.
  • Jan, 6, 3:29 a.m., Windham Road 11, Delhi.

Police are asking anyone who lives near these scenes to review home surveillance video. People driving in those areas who saw suspicious activity are urged to contact investigations.
