Funeral arrangements released for Paul Weiler, former 'Pigskin Pete'

Paul Weiler, better known as Pigskin Pete III, who led the Hamilton faithful through 31 seasons of Oskee Wee Wee chants, an estimated 20,000 bowler hat-led cheers and two Grey Cup victories, died Wednesday morning.

Funeral arrangements for John Paul Francis Weiler, better known as Pigskin Pete III, have been announced.

Viewing for the celebrated superfan, who led the Hamilton Tiger-Cats faithful through 31 seasons of Oskee Wee Wee chants, including two Grey Cups, will be on Friday in Stoney Creek at the Donald V Brown Funeral Home (36 Lake Ave. Dr.) from 2-4 p.m., and 7-9 p.m. Friends, family and others can leave messages of condolence at the funeral home page dedicated to Weiler.

The funeral will be held Saturday morning at the Incarnation of Our Blessed Lord (400 Pottruff Rd., near Barton and Nash), followed by a reception from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m at the Knights of Columbus (22 Queenston Rd.).

Ward 4 Councillor Sam Merulla made motion to have Weiler inducted into the Hamilton Sports Hall of Fame, as well as the Wall of Fame at Tim Horton's Field, in council Tuesday night. The motion passed unanimously.
