Police say they've identified a man found dead on the rooftop of Jackson Square just hours after asking the public for help figuring out who he is.

The service shared a sketch of the man and photos of his clothes Friday, asking for anyone who knew who he was to contact them. A few hours later, police said they had their answer.

"The 28-year-old male lived a transient lifestyle with ties to the Hamilton area," stated a media release. "The male was known to frequently attend the downtown core."

Police say the man was identified following several calls from community members and that his next of kin have been notified.

The man was one of two people found lying on the ground above the mall by a passerby around 8 p.m. on May 2, according to investigators.

The service says both men were initially unresponsive, but the passerby was able to wake one of them, who walked away before police arrived.

The second man, however, was "lifeless and pronounced dead by paramedics," say police.

Police initially said the man who died did not have any identification and that there have not been any inquiries or missing people that match his profile.

A description of the man was provided after his body was sent to the Centre of Forensic Sciences.

"It is believed that his lifestyle was a contributing factor in his death and police are not investigating this as suspicious," said police.
