Calgary Paralympian participating in 1st Terry Fox Run as amputee
'We'll see how far I get,' says Michelle Salt about running long-distance with prosthetic limb
Paralympic snowboarder Michelle Salt will be running Sunday in the Terry Fox Run for the first time with one leg.
"I've tried for the last four years to be half the person Terry Fox was," said the parasnowboarder.

The Calgarian ran in previous Terry Fox events, but not with a prosthetic limb. Salt lost her right leg above the knee following a near-fatal motorcycle accident in June 2011.
"My family had found a Terry Fox coin, a loonie with Terry Fox on it, the day I went into for amputation surgery. And they said was a sign I was going to live a life as an amputee."
She says it's be tough learning to run with a prosthetic leg and knee, but can "go forever" when she's strapped into a snowboard.
"Right now I'm running on a 50-metre track and I'm quite exhausted when I get to the end, so we'll see how far I get," said Salt.
"And technology 30 years ago was so much different. So kudos to Terry Fox for accomplishing what he did. It's quite incredible."
Salt will be leading the warm-up for the Terry Fox Run on Sunday in Calgary, which kicks off at 10 a.m. at Telus Spark.
