Police investigating Nose Creek Pathway assault that left woman with life-threatening injuries
Calgary police say woman remains on life support in hospital after being assaulted Monday
Calgary police are investigating a "serious assault" that left woman with life-threatening injuries on a pathway early Monday morning in northeast Calgary.
Police said in a news release that officers were called to the Nose Creek Pathway near the 1100 block of 32nd Avenue N.E. around 4 a.m. for reports that a passerby had found a woman who was believed to be in medical distress.
The woman was taken to hospital where she remains on life support.
"Evidence led police to believe the victim was assaulted and given the seriousness of the victim's injuries at the time she was located, our homicide unit is investigating," police said in a news release.
Investigators are looking to speak with anyone who has information or who was in contact with the woman in the hours or days leading up to the alleged assault and have released a CCTV image of her from Sunday in hopes that someone will recognize her or her clothing and come forward.
Officers had several areas of the Nose Creek Pathway blocked off on Monday and were looking to determine if multiple scenes in the area were related.
"At this time, the connection remains undetermined," police said.
