Former Calgary MP Lee Richardson is going to try for federal politics again, according to a Conservative source.
Richardson was first elected as a Conservative MP in 1988 and served until 1993.
He was elected again in 2004 in Calgary Centre.
Richardson stepped down in 2012 to take a job as Alberta Premier Alison Redford's principal secretary.
He lost that job when Redford stepped down as premier, but was paid $231,809 in severance.
Richardson plans to run for the Conservative nomination in Rocky Ridge — one of the new federal ridings.
The Liberal candidate for Rocky Ridge is former CBC anchor Nirmala Naidoo.
