The president of a commercial mortgage company whose body was found in his office was the victim of a homicide, police confirmed Tuesday after an autopsy.

The president of a commercial mortgage company whose body was found in his office was the victim of a homicide, police confirmed Tuesday after an autopsy.

Jack Beauchamp was found dead in his office Monday.

But they are releasing few details about the death of 49-year-old Jack Beauchamp, and refused to release a cause of death. While police did say a firearm was "used in the commission of the homicide," they wouldn't elaborate.

A co-worker discovered Beauchamp's body in the 12th-floor offices of Morbank Financial about 8:15 a.m. Monday. The employee told police he thought Beauchamp had been shot.

The company released a short statement Tuesday, saying Beauchamp was "an exemplary leader, both in business and in the community. He was a man admired and respected by all.

"More importantly, he was a friend we shall dearly miss."

The company said it won't comment further while the police investigation into Beauchamp's death continues.

Monday, police arrested a 52-year-old man and later charged him with criminal harassment in connection with threats allegedly made to Beauchamp in emails, dating back to November.

A police spokesman said they were checking to see whether Beauchamp had complained to them about any harassment before his death.

No charges have been laid in connection with Beauchamp's death.
