Calgary family reported as missing have been found safe and sound
Police said someone recognized photos shared and told police where to find the family
A Calgary couple in their forties and their five-year-old granddaughter who were reported missing after going camping in the Crowsnest Pass area a week ago have been found, police said.
The Calgary Police Service put out a news release Thursday asking for the public's help to find the missing family.
The family left for the Crowsnest Pass area on Sept. 17.
Police initially said the family hadn't been seen or heard from since last Thursday.
Later, a member of the public who saw the media and social media coverage recognized the trio and called police.
"Thanks to everyone who shared our posts and photos. Someone recognized the pictures and told us where to find them," reads a statement posted by Calgary police on Twitter.
