A 23-year-old woman wanted by police after a body was found at a Lethbridge, Alta., motel last week has turned herself in, police say.

Two men had previously been arrested in connection with the incident. All three are facing charges of first-degree murder.

Officers say they began investigating what they called a suspicious death after the body of 34-year-old Christina Webber was found at a motel room along the 2200 block of Seventh Avenue South on Dec. 28, 2024.

Police said in a news release that the three accused, who are all known to Webber, went to her motel room on Boxing Day and an interaction "involving a firearm" led to her death.

Asked about whether Webber was shot, police reiterated the language contained in the release.

The accused then took property from the room and fled in an SUV, which was later parked along the 500 block of Seventh Avenue South and set on fire, according to police.

An autopsy confirmed Webber's death was a homicide, according to police.

On Dec. 29, police arrested a 28-year-old man from Cranbrook, B.C. as he was leaving the Lethbridge Correctional Centre after serving a weekend sentence for unrelated offences.

A day later, on Dec. 30, police searched a home along the 200 block of 19 Street North and arrested a 36-year-old man from Lethbridge following a short standoff with officers.

Both men are charged with first-degree murder and arson to property. The 36-year-old is also charged with possession of a prohibited firearm.

Investigators said this was an isolated incident and there is no further risk to the public.
