Man shot dead in Vancouver's Downtown Eastside

Vancouver police are investigating after a man in his 40s was shot dead inside a housing project early Tuesday.

Police say it's the city’s 11th homicide of the year

UPDATE, Aug. 11, 2021: Vancouver police say two men are now in custody in relation to this homicide. They are 26-year-old Ba Hui Tran of Vancouver, who has been charged with one count of manslaughter, and Joseph Mason, 37, also of Vancouver, who has been charged with one count of second-degree murder.  

UPDATE, Aug. 5, 2021: Vancouver police have identified the shooting victim as 40-year-old Michael Bailey. 


Vancouver police are investigating after a man in his 40s was shot dead inside a housing project early Tuesday, July 20.

The shooting, which police describe as targeted, took place at the London Hotel, a supportive housing project in the Downtown Eastside, at 5 a.m. PT.

Police say there were two suspects on scene, but they fled and have not yet been found. 

This marks Vancouver's 11th homicide of the year.
