Vancouver police are looking for the hit-and-run driver whose vehicle struck a pedestrian, who then died at the scene of the accident in a South Granville neighbourhood Friday night.

They're asking anyone who saw the crash or has dashcam footage of the intersection at Hemlock Street and West 12th Avenue just after 10 p.m. PT to contact them.

It appears that a man in his 50s collapsed and fell onto the road, where he was hit by a vehicle travelling east on 12th Avenue, the police said. The victim died at the crash scene, and the driver did not stop.

The name of the deceased has not been released.

And a detailed description of the suspect or the vehicle was not available as of Saturday night, a police spokesperson said in an email.
