Fire crews were called out to Vancouver's Stanley Park after a passing boater spotted a tree on fire on the cliffs near Siwash Rock on Thursday night.
Fire battalion Chief John Mantei says the site was difficult to reach, but a fireboat was able to put out the flames by 2 a.m. PT, with help from a crew on the cliffs above.
"It was right on the edge of a cliff, so gaining access was a bit of a challenge for our crew, but they did a great job," he said.
"It looked as if it may have been started as a campfire and spread to a tree," he said.
