Pedestrian killed in Comox Valley hit and run

RCMP are looking for vehicle that fled the scene after a pedestrian was killed early this morning north of Courtenay, B.C.

A pedestrian was killed in a hit and run early Tuesday in Merville, B.C.

Comox Valley RCMP were called to a rural area north of Courtenay, on Highway 19A, around 5:30 am PT.

A pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene.

RCMP are looking for a vehicle that left the scene. It's believed to have headed south towards Courtenay.

There is no description of the vehicle, but police say it will have heavy front end damage.

Highway 19A is closed 10 km north of Courtenay for the investigation.

It is expected to open this afternoon. There is a detour available.
