North Saanich, B.C., wins Kraft Hockeyville contest

The small Vancouver Island community of North Saanich will host a pre-season NHL game as this year's Kraft Hockeyville winner.

The small Vancouver Island community of North Saanich will host a pre-season NHL game between the Vancouver Canucks and the San Jose Sharks as this year's Kraft Hockeyville winner.

The municipality was selected by popular vote as the Canadian community most committed to and passionate about ice hockey. 

As part of its prize, the community will also receive $100,000 for upgrades to its Panorama Recreation Centre Arena B.

Last year's winner was the Alberta town of Sylvan Lake.
