4 CBC broadcasters from B.C. win awards at RTDNA national conference

Four CBC journalists from B.C. have been recognized at the RTDNA National Conference in Toronto with awards for their work.

Four CBC journalists from B.C. have been recognized at the Radio Television Digital News Association [RTDNA] National Conference in Toronto with awards for their work.

Duncan McCue won for a compilation of stories he did on violence against aboriginal women.

Doug Herbert won the Byron Mac​G​regor Award​ - ​Best Newscast - Small ​M​arket​ - Radio​ for coverage of damage to the Village of Cache Creek following a flash flood.

Betsy Trumpener won the Dave Rogers Award​ - ​Short Feature - Small/Medium ​M​arket​ - Radio​ for her story called Rehab at the River: Water Ceremony.

With the invitation of an elder, Trumpener followed two ex-convicts, now on parole, at a wilderness camp as they endured a water ceremony in an icy northern river, as part of their cultural rehabilitation program.

Meanwhile Wui Gwai: Hong Kong Homecoming​ was awarded the Adrienne Clarkson Award - Diversity - Network Radio. The hour long special was hosted by Elaine Chau and co-produced by Manusha Janakiram and Chau and mixed by Lee Rosevere.
