Woman airlifted to hospital after Mission, B.C., crash: RCMP
Lougheed Highway is back open after being closed in both directions following a crash, DriveBC says
RCMP in Mission, B.C., say a woman was airlifted to hospital with serious injuries following a crash that closed a stretch of Lougheed Highway in both directions on Thursday morning.
At about 11:30 a.m. PT, a vehicle hydroplaned and struck a vehicle in the oncoming lane, according to Mission RCMP. Police say the initial investigation shows heavy rainfall may have been a factor in the crash.
RCMP said there were two people in each car, and one woman was airlifted to Royal Columbian Hospital in New Westminster, B.C., with serious injuries.
The highway was closed between Nelson and Oliver streets Thursday morning, and the Integrated Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Service is investigating the crash, police said in a statement.
According to DriveBC at about 6 p.m. PT, the highway reopened in both directions.
