The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team is looking for witnesses after human remains were discovered along a forest service road near Stave Lake in Mission, B.C. last night.

Mission RCMP were called to Florence Lake Forest Service Road after someone driving along the road found the remains last night. The investigation was then turned over to IHIT, who are treating it as a suspicious death.

IHIT is still trying to identify the victim, with help from the RCMP and coroner, said Sgt. Stephanie Ashton in a release.

"The Florence Lake forest road is a well-travelled road for outdoor enthusiasts. Anyone who was in the area in the late afternoon, early evening is asked to contact police with information."

Mission RCMP said in a release only four per cent of their calls for service are for violent crime, and random incidents of violence are rare in the area.
