The Sea-to-Sky Highway has reopened after a serious multi-vehicle crash between Britannia Beach and Murrin Provincial Park near Squamish, B.C., closed the road for nearly six hours on Sunday afternoon.

DriveBC, the province's highway information service, confirmed both lanes opened at around 9:45 p.m. but is warning travellers to expect delays as congestion clears.

The collision occurred just after 3:30 p.m. on the highway, just north of Britannia Beach, Squamish RCMP said in a release on Sunday evening.

The crash involved three vehicles. B.C. Emergency Health Services says it dispatched five ambulances to the scene, where paramedics assessed seven patients and transported four to hospital in stable condition.

Craig McMahon, a Deep Cove resident, was driving home from Whistler with his son when the crash happened.

He said one of the vehicles struck the rock wall and another flipped over.

"We were on the scene for about an hour and tried to support some of the victims until help arrived," he told CBC News.

Squamish RCMP says the investigation is ongoing and asks anyone with additional information to contact police.
