Police close Highway 97 north of Kelowna, B.C., for assault investigation

RCMP in Kelowna, B.C., say they have reopened Highway 97 north of the city. The road had been closed to all traffic while officers investigated an assault. Police say the attack happened early on Friday.

RCMP in Kelowna, B.C., say they have reopened Highway 97 north of the city to all traffic.

The road had been closed to all traffic while officers investigated an assault which police say happened Friday morning.

Video posted to Facebook by drivers in the region prior to the closure show uniformed officers wearing helmets and body protection carrying firearms along the highway.

No details about any injuries have been released.

Highway 97 is the main artery connecting the main cities in the Okanagan region, including the stretch between Kelowna and Vernon.
