Dramatic Vancouver bust nets 6 arrests
Six men are reported to be in custody following a combined RCMP and Vancouver police operation in south Vancouver Monday.
Heavily armed police in an SUV rammed a vehicle in the area of Hudson Street and Southwest Marine Drive shortly before 2 p.m. PT Monday and then arrested the occupants of the car, witnesses told CBC News.
Other arrests were made in a warehouse nearby, the witnesses said.
The police operation caused the lockdown of the nearby Vancouver Transit Centre, which prevented buses and people from leaving or entering the bus terminal.
About 100 buses were affected and transit officials said the delays would likely take a toll on bus schedules in several parts of the city through the evening rush hour.
Police revealed no details about the reason for the arrests.
