Jordan said her baby was actually due on Jan. 3, which meant he arrived two days early.

"He's very snuggly and loves to cuddle," the new mother told CBC News from her hospital bed.

Elijah, wearing a Seattle Mariners baseball cap, said his child was named after baseball pitcher Emerson Hancock.

"I don't know any boy Emersons except for that pitcher on the Mariners. So yeah, we kind of fell in love with it," he said.
