From waterfront Vancouver mansions to private Gulf Islands to downtown penthouses, B.C. has some very pricey real estate, according to the most recent provincial property assessments.

B.C. Assessment, the Crown corporation that values and classifies real estate in the province, on Thursday released the latest data from its property assessments dated July 1, 2024.

Property owners will eventually receive their own assessments in the mail, but those preemptively curious or wondering about another property can look it up on the B.C. Assessment website.

For those interested in what the most expensive real estate in the province looks like, here is a glimpse at some of the priciest one.

Top 3 priciest properties:

1. Topping the list of most valuable homes since 2014, 3085 Point Grey Rd. in Vancouver's Kitsilano neighbourhood is valued at $82,664,000. The home of Lululemon founder Chip Wilson has increased by $899,000 from 2023 — a 1.10 per cent jump equivalent to the asking price of a two-bedroom condo in Yaletown.

2. Valued at $71,739,000, 4707 Belmont Ave. sits further west in the city's Point Grey neighbourhood, looking down on Spanish Banks.

Both the top two priciest properties are located along the waterfront from Kitsilano to Point Grey, facing the North Shore mountains. In fact, 152 of the 500 most valuable homes in B.C. are in either Kitsilano, Point Grey or the University Endowment Lands — arguably Metro Vancouver's most exclusive strip of homes.

3. B.C.'s third most valuable property is not within a municipality, but is instead a private Gulf Island. Assessed at $57,526,000, the property covers the 312-hectare James Island, about a kilometre east of the Saanich Peninsula on Vancouver Island.

The property includes six guest homes, an 18-hole golf course and a private airstrip.

B.C.'s three most valuable properties have remained unchanged in ranking since at least 2017.

Priciest condo

The province's most valuable condo, which is valued at $25,926,000, ranked 44th. The penthouse suite 3101-277 Thurlow St. is in Vancouver's Coal Harbour and has unobstructed views of the North Shore mountains, Burrard Inlet and the downtown skyline.

Unit 2601 in the same building is also in the top 500. It ranked 131st and is valued at $18,765,000.

Priciest home elsewhere in B.C.

The most valuable home that is not in the Lower Mainland or a private island is in Whistler at 5432 Stonebridge Dr. Valued at $31,939,000 and ranked 17th, it is on a street with eight other properties figuring in the province's top 500.

Whistler, a resort municipality known as a destination for the ultra wealthy, sports the highest number of properties in the top 500 outside of Metro Vancouver.
