Brassneck, which opened in the Mount Pleasant neighbourhood two years ago, also won gold in the Specialty category for its No Brainer Pre-Prohibition Lager and a bronze for its Brassneck Ale in the North American Amber/Brown Ale category.
For this year's competition, 78 B.C. craft breweries submitted 580 beers to be judged in 20 different categories.
"We have new breweries opening all the time, the quality of the beer just keeps getting better...I can't think we've ever had a better time for beer in B.C.," said Joe Wiebe, author of Craft Beer Revolution: The Insider's Guide to B.C. Breweries.
Some of those new breweries that opened in the last year or so also fared well at the awards.
Strange Fellows Brewing, which opened in 2014 and was competing for the first time, won silver and bronze, for their Roxanne beer in the Sours/Wild Ale category and for their Framboise Noir in the Fruit category respectively.
Speaking on BC Almanac before the awards, Wiebe had said Strange Fellows was a brewery to watch.
"They, I have a feeling, will do quite well at the awards, because they're really doing a great job with their beers."
Big Rock Urban Brewery, which opened in April 2015, won a gold and a silver.
Doan's Craft Brewing Company, which also opened earlier this year in May, won one gold, and was also awarded the inaugural Richards Buell Sutton LLP Rookie of the Year Award.
