Investigation underway after weekend fire destroys 3 homes in Anmore
The resident of 1 mobile home was hospitalized and later released
Investigators are looking into the cause of a late night fire that burned down three homes and displaced several people in the Metro Vancouver village of Anmore last weekend.
The blaze began around 11:30 p.m. on Saturday in Anmore's Countryside Village, just north of Port Moody.
Jay Sharpe, fire chief with the Sasamat Volunteer Fire Department, said the heat was "extremely intense" when they arrived on scene.
"Visibility was actually a problem for us at a few points, we couldn't actually see where the fire was, the smoke was so thick."
He said it had recently rained at the time of the fire, but had conditions been drier, it could've spread to more homes in the vicinity and the nearby forest.
No one was injured, according to officials, but one woman — the resident of a mobile home that was affected — was briefly taken to hospital.
CBC News has reached out to Coquitlam RCMP for more on the investigation and the residents displaced.
In an online fundraiser, the Anmore Neighbours Community Association says the fire quickly spread from one home to those adjacent to it.
The association set up the fundraiser to support those affected, including two families.
