Police in Abbotsford, B.C. are investigating whether alcohol played a role in a collision last night that hospitalized two people.

The crash occurred at around 11:20 pm. PT Sunday on Old Yale Road near St. Moritz Way.

When emergency crews arrived they found a 21-year-old woman trapped in a red Dodge sedan, and a 53-year-old man in an overturned grey Dodge pick-up.

It took 45 minutes to extract the woman from the car. She was airlifted to hospital with serious injuries.

The man was transported by ambulance with non-life-threatening injuries. Police say he showed signs of impairment and blood tests are being done to determine whether charges should be laid.

Police have not released the names of those involved.
