Disney Stores go under major revamp to draw customers
Changes include live events streamed from Disney parks, interactive birthday celebrations
Disney is opening newly redesigned retail stores with stronger ties to its amusement parks and its media properties in an effort to bring customers back to its stores.
Work on the new stores began 16 months ago, and they are the Disney Store's first major remodelling since 2010, according to Bloomberg.
Among the changes are live events streamed in from its theme parks and in-store birthday celebrations with interactive Disney characters.
The stores are also expected to have carts selling mouse ears and cotton candy, similar to ones found at their amusement parks, Bloomberg says.
The recent changes haven't been exclusive to Disney's brick-and-mortar stores. Its online store has also been revamped to feature more products for adults, including Coach bags and Nixon watches.
