Do you look like Drake? It could win you $10K

Toronto will get its own version of a growing trend of celebrity lookalike contests, which have already included Timothée Chalamet, Paul Mescal and more.

A Toronto-based entrepreneur holding a Drake lookalike contest received a recent holiday surprise when the rapper himself reached out offering to co-sign the event with a $10,000 prize.

"I'm adding 10 bands to the lookalike contest as the main prize," Drake wrote to Casuals Cakery, a baking company that is holding the contest.

"I can barely type and a whole shock went through my body," Casuals Cakery posted on Instagram. "But yes this is true and real & I hope the Drake doppelgängers ready."

Casuals Cakery, which, according to its bio, makes "cake-inspired treats" and is owned by "BIPOC, queer and baddies," had originally offered a "Toronto Manz" prize pack, which included a bottle of Hennessy, a pack of Backwoods cigars plus other prizes.

"The prize will be awarded to the most creative, entertaining & honours Drake's aesthetic the best!" the company wrote on Instagram. The lookalike contest will be held Dec. 14 from 4-6 p.m. at Apt. 200 on Queen Street.

It's the latest in a growing trend of celebrity lookalike contests, including a Timothée Chalamet one held in New York's Washington Square Park in October, which was graced by a surprise appearance from the Wonka star himself. In November, "big strong boys" clad in short shorts showed up at Dublin's Smithfield Square for a Paul Mescal lookalike contest, which the Gladiator actor endorsed on his TikTok, while in London, shaggy-haired Harry Styles lookalikes crowded Soho Square for a contest in honour of the singer.

There's no word yet on whether Drake will appear at the Toronto contest, but the organizer promised on Instagram that it's the "perfect event to meet crodies, broski's & your rich baby daddy."
