Progressive Conservative Stéphane Sarrazin is projected to win Glengarry-Prescott-Russell.
The riding runs from rural east Ottawa through communities such as Clarence-Rockland, Casselman and Hawkesbury to the Quebec border.
Linguistically, the area is evenly split between anglophones and francophones, according to the 2021 census.
Unlike some other local ridings, this one changes hands: Sarrazin won it for the PCs in 2022 from PC-turned-Liberal Amanda Simard by three and a half percentage points, or about 1,500 votes.
Simard had won it from the Liberals when she represented the PCs. It was more solidly Liberal before that, dating back to its creation in the late 1990s.
Before becoming MPP Sarrazin managed electricity distribution in Alfred and Plantagenet, and more recently was mayor of that township.
Seven candidates ran for the seat in this race.
