Growing up Kelly always dreamed big. Now, as a professional hockey player in the PWHL, she's inspiring a new generation of girls to break barriers. Known for her high-energy leadership and her "let's go!" attitude, Kelly is a hype machine both on and off the ice. She also plays a mean harmonica.
What's driving you to take on Canada's Ultimate Challenge?
The whole thing seemed EPIC and a once-in-a-lifetime experience, so it was easy to want to say, "I have to do this."
What unique skills will set you apart from the competition?
I am a professional hockey player who has experienced a lot of adversity and pressure. I know how to deal with both.
How did you gear up for Canada's Ultimate Challenge?
Did my normal routine. Working out and being me!
What do you fear the most in the competition?
Not being able to talk to my family honestly was my biggest fear. I had a fear of heights but this competition made me feel like I'd grow significantly and when I left the show, I was no longer scared of heights
What's the toughest thing life has thrown you and how did it prepare you for this challenge?
Getting cut from a hockey team, working hard to regain a spot and earning a spot prepped me for this challenge. Nothing is impossible!
Who is your favourite player from past seasons?
Whitney. Great leader!
What's a random fact that people would be shocked to learn about you?
I didn't play lacrosse for six years, picked it back up in college and was the top scorer and on the all-rookie team as a senior.
Canada's Ultimate Challenge comes to CBC Gem on Thursday, March 6.
