OCCUPATION: Marketing strategist

HOMETOWN: Langley, B.C.
Veronica grew up in Langley, B.C. and is a smooth operator on and off the field. She might not be the biggest competitor, but she's a strategic force. A marketing strategist by trade, Veronica has a natural talent for building connections with her teammates.
After recently leaving a long-term relationship, she has rediscovered her spark and found a new level of strength and is ready to bring her heart and grit to Canada's Ultimate Challenge.
What's driving you to take on Canada's Ultimate Challenge?
I was in a relationship for five years that was slowly chipping away at my spark. When I finally got up the courage to leave, I felt lost; my spark was gone and when I looked at myself in the mirror...I had no idea who was looking back at me.
When this opportunity came my way, I KNEW I had to do it. This was the opportunity for a rebirth. It was an opportunity to meet new people, to prove what I am capable of and to rediscover who the heck Veronica Alexandra Beltran-Flores is.
I am happy to report that the spark is back and it's burning brighter than ever before.
What unique skills will set you apart from the competition?
What I do offer is heart. I don't want to toot my own horn, but I truly believe I am the glue. I am the glue in my friendships and family. I don't let people lose hope and I always try to believe in the best in people.
How did you gear up for Canada's Ultimate Challenge?
I began training harder at the gym. I wrote little words of encouragement my friends had said to me in the journal that I brought with me.
What do you fear the most in the competition?
I feared being in charge. I didn't want to be team captain. I also feared anything relating to water because I am not a strong swimmer.
What's the toughest thing life has thrown you and how did it prepare you for this challenge?
Depression and anxiety.
Coming into this — nothing really could have been harder than the pain I was in when I ended 2023 and started 2024. I was not made to quit, I was made to endure, learn, grow and inspire.
Who is your favourite player from past seasons?
Jackie! She was such a light and I feel like we really aligned SO much in our reason for being on the show.
What's a random fact that people would be shocked to learn about you?
I eat my burgers upside down because it's easier that way.
Canada's Ultimate Challenge comes to CBC Gem on Thursday, March 6.
