Twenty-six writers from across Canada have been longlisted for the 2022 CBC Poetry Prize.
The complete list is:
The longlist was selected from more than 2,200 English-language submissions.
The jury selects the shortlist and the eventual winner from the readers' longlisted selections. The 2022 jury is comprised of Armand Garnet Ruffo, Megan Gail Coles and Hoa Nguyen.
The shortlist will be announced on Nov. 17 and the winner will be announced on Nov. 24.
A team of 12 writers from across Canada compiled the list.
The winner of the 2022 CBC Poetry Prize will receive $6,000 from the Canada Council for the Arts(external link), have their work published on CBC Books(external link) and will attend a two-week writing residency at the Banff Centre for Arts and Creativity(external link).
Four finalists will each receive $1,000 from the Canada Council for the Arts(external link) and have their work published on CBC Books(external link).
Last year's winner was Vancouver poet Lise Gaston for her poem James. You can read the entire 2021 shortlist here.

The CBC Literary Prizes(external link) have been recognizing Canadian writers since 1979. Past winners include Alison Pick, David Bergen, Michael Ondaatje and Carol Shields.
