Lawyers to make final arguments Friday
A Saskatoon man charged with sexual assault opted Thursday morning not to testify in his own defence at his Court of Queen's bench trial.
Mark Donlevy is on trial for a single count of sexual assault. The allegation dates back to 2004 and involves a woman who claims she was assaulted by Donlevy after meeting on an online dating site.
Donlevy also currently faces 11 other sexual assault charges, which stem from from when he worked as a massage therapist, after the alleged assault he is now being tried for. He has yet to stand trial on those 11 other charges.
The woman testified that she only wanted friendship when she met Donlevy for coffee, a movie and then an evening of dancing.
She alleges that he sexually assaulted her after bringing her back to a home on Saskatchewan Crescent.
The woman was the Crown's only witness. Prosecutor Cory Bliss closed the Crown's case Thursday. The defence did not call any witnesses.
The lawyers will make their final arguments Friday. Justice Heather MacMillan will give her decision Sept. 27.
