Calgary police are asking for help to track down the driver of a car after a man was shot while sleeping in his home last weekend.
Police were called to a home in the 3600 block of 29A Avenue S.E. in Calgary at about 2:20 a.m. on March 10, according to a Calgary Police Service press release issued Thursday.
A man in his 30s had been sleeping when, police believe, gunshots went through the walls of his home and hit him where he was lying in bed.
"Investigators have not yet been able to confirm the motive or whether the victim was the intended target; however, at this time, it is believed the victim may be an innocent bystander," police said in the release.
Officers are trying to identify the driver of a vehicle spotted in surveillance camera footage. They have released a photo of the car that turned into a nearby alleyway before the shooting. It's described as a light-coloured, four-door car.
They're trying to find out if the driver was involved in the shooting or if the driver may have witnessed it.
The man who was shot remains in hospital in stable condition after suffering non-life-threatening injuries.
