An inmate serving an indeterminate sentence for second-degree murder died behind bars on Wednesday.
Otto Edner Hansen, 46, had been serving his sentence at the Regional Psychiatric Centre in Saskatoon.
The jail's warden said Hansen was found unresponsive in his cell at 3 a.m. CST during regular cell checks. There was no obvious sign of trauma or foul play.
In February 2009, Hansen had been charged in the death of Deborah Smith.
Police say Smith had been stabbed to death.
Hansen was convicted in 2011.
The investigation into his death continues.
