A man is in custody after police were called to a suspicious package incident that shut down several streets during a busy Wednesday rush hour, police said in a release Friday.
Police responded to the Marlborough LRT station in northeast Calgary around 3:30 p.m. after a man was seen holding a bag with smoke coming from it.
Officers detected a chemical smell when they arrived and now believe it was a mix of household cleaners.
The train station and a nearby car dealership were evacuated and a bomb-disposal robot was deployed.

Police found the suspect hours later in the East Village. The man was seen spraying fluid onto the sidewalk from a container.
"It is believed that mental health issues contributed to this incident," police said.
