With the new alert system now available to the public, the City of Charlottetown is collecting information from those who want to access it.
The system, once known as the Mass Notification System allowed the city to provide alerts to residents and businesses of unexpected road closures, severe weather impacts, evacuations of buildings or neighbourhoods, community event information and winter parking restriction notices.
People that live and work in the city can sign up online to receive time-sensitive messages. It is free to subscribe to the service and it allows you to choose what alerts they receive and how they receive them such as by home, mobile or business phone, email, text message.
City staff are doing a door-to-door campaign to provide information about the new system. Those interested in registering can do so online(external link) or call City Hall for help.
