Video moves on to national competition
The winner of this year's Workers Compensation Board of P.E.I. High School Video Contest highlights the dangers of working when you are tired, especially on the farm.
The two-minute video from Grade 11 students Ben MacMillan and Jacob MacDonald, Know Your Limits, follows a fatigued young farm worker throughout his daily tasks.
"The contest continues to be a great way to get students involved in discussions around safety in the workplace," said Stuart Affleck, chair of the Workers Compensation Board, in a news release.
"We know that one of the highest rates for workplace accidents happen among young workers (15-24 years of age) and we need to change that."
MacMillan and MacDonald will share a $1,000 cash prize and receive $1,000 for their school.
Know Your Limits now moves on to a national competition sponsored by the Canadian Centre for Occupational Health and Safety.
Islanders can cast their vote to make the Morell students' video the fan favourite in the national contest.
