A former prostitute twice convicted of murdering a client in his Calgary home will go to trial a third time after a successful appeal.
Crystal Crowchild was originally charged with second-degree murder in the stabbing death of Aref Selman Nassereddine, 64, in his home in the Rosscarrock neighbourhood in 2010.
Crowchild was first convicted of murder in 2013, but the Alberta Court of Appeal overturned the ruling and ordered a new trial. A jury convicted her for a second time in February 2016.
Defence lawyer Alias Sanders appealed a second time and, on Wednesday, the higher court ordered a third trial.

Body discovered by wife, daughter

Nassereddine's body was discovered by his wife and six-year-old daughter in March 2010.
Crowchild — who was 25 years old at the time — admitted to stabbing her client but has always claimed self defence.
The two had sex but Nassereddine wanted more, and Crowchild refused, she told police. He followed her downstairs where she stabbed him several times.
After she was convicted last year, Crowchild was sentenced to life in prison with no chance of parole for 10 years.
No date for a retrial has been set.
