WASHINGTON, D.C.—After a careful re-examination and re-drafting of President Trump's travel ban executive order, the White House has reissued it, this time choosing not to say "Muslim" but rather "you-know-who."
"In the initial order, I—er, I mean the president—didn't mention Muslims by name," said Steve Bannon.

"Although from the past comments made by Donald Trump through his entire campaign, and comments his surrogates have made, and basically the entire life that Mike Pence and myself have each led, people were able to put two and two together and make Islamophobia."
"But it still didn't work!" Bannon continued.
"I think people thought it was a bit dishonest. 'Oh, we're randomly worried about these seven countries! All the Muslim-majority countries we could think of off the top of our heads, except for the ones we do a lot of business with!' So even though we still can't really say 'Muslim' in this new one because it's pretty untenable both legally and morally, we figure we'll say everything but."
Says Vice-President Mike Pence, "The thing I like most about this new wording is how it will make the people reading it feel smart. We're not saying something outright, but we're saying: come on. You're good enough to figure this out. You're smart enough to figure this out. Give it a try. Oh, you think we mean Muslims? Very good guess. We can't tell you if you're right or not, but… very good."
"It's kind of a wink in print," continued Pence, "which is what a lot of people in our administration specialize in."
At press time, many in the White House were reportedly trying to stop Donald Trump himself from adding a controversial addendum to the order that said simply, "p.s. yes, Muslims, obviously."
